Drawing on significant experience in the corporate financial management and public accounting arena, Chris Nowell specializes in providing financial advisory and business evaluation services to companies in ownership transition and subsequent business exchanges. He also has negotiated, valued, and performed due diligence on numerous acquisitions in a variety of industries.

Prior to forming Jarrard, Nowell & Russell, LLC, Nowell worked with both domestic and international companies managing a wide range of activities including mergers and acquisitions, corporate tax compliance and planning, cash flow management, debt covenant negotiation, corporate risk management, employee benefit management and business development. Nowell’s experience with businesses in transition focuses on assistance with financing and the assessment of traditional or alternative financing methods.

Nowell served as treasurer for Cameron & Barkley Company and later worked for Hagemeyer North American, Inc., in the capacity of vice president of North American Treasury. Nowell also is experienced in public accounting through firms in both Charleston and Clemson, South Carolina. He has been a featured speaker at events sponsored by EuroFinance, the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), and the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors.

Nowell earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Clemson University and is a certified public accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA). He also is an active member of his community, having served as treasurer for The Charleston Stage Company and currently a member of the board of directors for the ASCEND Foundation.

William H. Jarrard, CPA

William H. Jarrard, CPA

Bill Jarrard offers a breadth of public accounting and corporate financial experience, including experience with a Big Four accounting firm and working with Fortune 500 level corporations. As a principal in Jarrard, Nowell & Russell, Jarrard also offers expertise in 1031 tax-free exchanges.

Prior to forming Jarrard, Nowell & Russell, LLC, Jarrard served as chief financial officer for Young Pecan Company, the world’s largest producer of pecans, with annual sales exceeding $100 million. He also has experience as vice president and controller at Cameron & Barkley Company.

Additionally, Jarrard served as director of retail accounting for Ahold Financial Services and as assistant controller for BILO, Inc. (a subsidiary of Ahold USA). In his position with Ahold, Jarrard directed the consolidation of finance functions for five separate grocery chains. Under the new shared accounting center, he supervised the weekly financial reporting for over 1,000 grocery stores. While at BILO, he managed payroll, fixed assets and accounts receivable for the corporation.

Jarrard also has served as senior auditor with KPMG Peat Marwick and was involved with the Initial Public Offering of Moovies, Inc., which raised over $25 million. He has extensive experience with corporate auditing, financial management and due diligence.

A certified public accountant, Jarrard earned a masters of professional accountancy from Clemson University and a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA). Jarrard also serves on the finance committee for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and recently received the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 award in recognition of individuals under the age of 40 who have made outstanding accomplishments in and contributions to the Charleston business community.

William A. Russell III, CPA
Principal

William A. Russell III, CPA

A veteran of over fifteen years in corporate financial management and captive insurance company management, Will Russell brings to the firm broad industry expertise, with extensive experience in corporate treasury systems, business valuation and due diligence work.

Russell began his career as assistant treasurer for Charleston-based Cameron & Barkley Company and has served as director of treasury and risk management for Hagemeyer North American, Inc. Previously he served as assistant vice president with Marsh Management Services, Inc. (a division of Marsh & McLennan).

His experience includes the design and implementation of treasury systems, alternative financing structures and cash flow modeling. He also has worked in the captive management industry where he was responsible for managing over 30 clients with assets in excess of $500 million. Russell has performed due diligence and negotiations on numerous acquisitions and led the process of integration into the acquiring companies.

Russell has been featured as a speaker around the country at events sponsored by the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), South Carolina Captive Insurance Association (SCCIA) and in the United Kingdom at events sponsored by EuroFinance. He also has served on the Large Corporate Client Advisory Board for Wachovia Bank, N.A.

A certified public accountant, Russell earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Clemson University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA). Russell also serves on the finance committee for the Summerville Chamber of Commerce.
